DAILY COGNISANCE:
Living Water –
“but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.” John 4:14.
Setting: A park bench on a sunny afternoon. Two friends, MIA and LUCAS, are sitting together, enjoying homemade sandwiches. LUCAS seems distracted, scrolling through his phone, while MIA notices his demeanor.
MIA: (puts down her sandwich) Hey, Lucas! You’ve been so quiet today. What’s on your mind?
LUCAS: (looking up) Honestly? I don’t know… I feel like I’m just going through the motions. I keep chasing after things that promise happiness—jobs, social media likes, even dating—but I still feel empty.
MIA: (nodding empathetically) I get that. It’s like we’re in this constant race to find fulfillment. But I was reading John 4:14 earlier: “But whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst.”
LUCAS: (raising an eyebrow) Water? What do you mean?
MIA: (smiling) Jesus was talking about “living water”—a deep, spiritual satisfaction that comes from knowing Him. All those things we chase after? They’re just temporary. True fulfillment is about a relationship with Christ.
LUCAS: (thoughtful) So, you’re saying if I focus on my relationship with Him, I might find what I’m looking for?
MIA: Exactly! Jesus promises that when we turn to Him, our deepest longings are satisfied. It’s like a wellspring of joy that never runs dry.
LUCAS: (sighs) That’s comforting. I think I’ve been trying to fill that void with everything but Him.
MIA: (encouragingly) It happens to the best of us! But starting today, we can shift our focus. Let’s intentionally carve out time to connect with Him—through prayer, reading the Word, and community.
LUCAS: (smiling) I’d love that! I want that living water you’re talking about. I want to feel truly satisfied.
MIA: (brightening) Yes! It’s not about our circumstances; it’s about where we find our source. When Christ is our foundation, we’ll discover contentment no matter what life throws our way.
Narrator: In a world overflowing with superficial pursuits, we often neglect the one source of true satisfaction: a relationship with Jesus Christ. Embrace the living water that He offers and experience the fulfillment that only He can provide.
(The scene fades as uplifting music plays, with visuals of flowing water, laughter, and moments of genuine connection.)
