DAILY COGNISANCE: The Patient Gardener – Hebrews 12:11(KJV).

DAILY COGNISANCE:

The Patient Gardener –

“Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” Hebrews 12:11(KJV).

Scene: A small community garden at dawn. Two neighbors stand by a row of young plants after a late frost.

TOM (frustrated): They’re dying. I should’ve planted later. Might as well pull them out and start over.

MARIA (kneeling, gently clearing frost): Don’t. They’re weak now because they were tested. With care, they’ll recover.

TOM: But it’s taking forever. I thought faith meant things would just work out.

MARIA: Discipline and hardship aren’t signs God has abandoned you. Hebrews says the correction seems painful now, but it trains us. The steady work—watering, protecting, tending—yields the fruit of righteousness.

TOM (watching her): So you keep doing the small things even when it hurts?

MARIA: Yes. Steadfast deeds—kindness, honesty, patience—are like tending a garden. They look ordinary, but they produce a harvest that shows God’s work in us.

TOM (softly): I’ll stick with it. No quick fixes—just faithful labor.

Conclusion:
Narrator (Voiceover): Don’t be discouraged by the hard seasons. Be steadfast in deed—tend faithfully—and you will reap the peaceable fruit of righteousness.
