DAILY COGNISANCE:
The Call to Evangelism – Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Setting: A vibrant community market square in an urban African city. People are shopping, chatting, and enjoying the atmosphere. In one corner, a small group of friends has gathered, discussing their recent church service and community outreach.
Characters:
1.Daniel: A young man in his early 30s, passionate and enthusiastic about his faith but unsure how to share it.
2.Asha: Daniel’s friend, a confident and charismatic young woman who actively participates in evangelism in their community.[
Scene 1: The camera focuses on DANIEL and ASHA standing near a fruit stall, discussing their thoughts on the day’s sermon about evangelism.]
Asha: (excitedly) Didn’t Pastor say we’re all called to evangelize? We have to share the Good News with everyone!
Daniel: (looking uncertain) He did, but it feels daunting. I mean, how am I supposed to go out and tell others about my faith? What if they don’t want to listen?
[Scene 2: ASHA smiles encouragingly and gestures to the lively crowd around them.]
Asha: (enthusiastically) It’s easier than you think, Dan! Look at all the people around us. Everyone is searching for something—hope, connection, love. We have the answer!
Daniel: (still hesitant) But what if they ask questions I can’t answer? Or what if they mock me?
[Scene 3: ASHA places a reassuring hand on DANIEL’s shoulder.]
Asha: (earnestly) We’re not called to have all the answers—just to share our story. Matthew 28:19-20 compels us to go, not to stay silent.
Daniel: (thoughtful) You’re right. Jesus promised that He is with us always. That should give us confidence.
[Scene 4: ASHA notices a group of young people nearby, laughing and playing football.]
Asha: (pointing) Let’s go talk to those guys! We can invite them to our youth group this Friday.
Daniel: (nervously) Right now? But what if they say no?[Scene 5: ASHA smiles brightly, embodying enthusiasm.]
Asha: (encouragingly) They might say yes! And even if they don’t, we’re planting seeds. It’s our duty to share, and God will do the rest.
Daniel: (gaining confidence) Okay, let’s do it! Even if it feels uncomfortable, I want to obey God’s command.
[Scene 6: They walk over to the group, ASHA initiating the conversation with a friendly wave.]
Asha: (cheerfully) Hey everyone! We’re from the local church, and we’d love to invite you to our youth group this Friday. It will be fun and uplifting!
Group Member: (interested) That sounds cool! What’s the theme?
[Scene 7: As the conversation continues, DANIEL watches the interaction with growing confidence and smiles.]
Daniel: (to himself) This isn’t so hard. Everyone is just people wanting to connect.
Asha: (turning back to DANIEL) See? It’s all about how you approach it! Sharing the Gospel is simply connecting with others and being real about what God has done in our lives.
[Scene 8: The camera captures laughing and engaging conversation as DANIEL joins in, feeling empowered and joyful.]
Narrator: (voiceover) Just as Daniel and Asha discovered, the call to evangelism is a shared journey. We are to go forth, spread the Good News, and trust that God is with us. When we obey His Word, we can change lives, including our own.
